Hi guys

Looking for a little advice please. Bought the amp a couple of weeks ago and I'm really pleased with it so far. Currently it is hooked up to my old Denon 2.1 speakers, but I'm desperate to get these upgraded. So here's the questions....

i) I have read elsewhere that the Pioneer is not suited to the MT30's or MA Apex as it sounds "bright". Having read the manual cover to cover I was under the impression the amp could be adjusted to help with this, do I have this right?

ii) Given the boss's input is that the speakers must be a) style speakers and b) white is there any other more suitable models out there

iii) I am planning to audition both sets regardless but what is peoples view with regards to the price difference between the MT30's and the Apex systems (I will need to get stands for the rears due to the layout of the room, and have been told the apex stands are £250!!) is the difference in sound quality really work the extra ££££?

iv)...and finally my friends is the VSX-LX53 man enough to run either of these speaker systems or would I benifit from more power?

Thanks in advance

Don't worry about the brightness thing, it's just people repeating stuff they've heard other people who've never heard them say. And they heard it off someone else. The Pioneer does have a more forward presentation, but this isn't brightness. Even if the MCACC can't tame brighter speakers, the manual X-Curve facility will (up to 3dB HF cut in 0.5dB steps).

The Apexes really are in a different league to the MT30 package, and although they'd benefit from an LX73 or LX83, the LX53 will drive them fine.

I mirror David's comments the Pioneer sound has not been bright for many many generations. It will happily run the speakers you are considering as well as far superior models - we regularly match Dali with Pioneer and you should find the Fazon's ( available in white ) are a great match.

I have the Apex speakers along with a Pioneer SC-LX72 and I can confirm what David has said above, the combination is a delight to listen to.

If you've got the money for the Apex go for them, but if it's a stretch the MT-1's in white on stands look and sound great with the Pioneer. Audition both sets to ear the difference. If it's looking like your going for the MT-1's, try them with the MA RXW-12 sub as I found this better than the PV-1. This would give you a upgrade path to the Apex later as I'm told the RXW-12 is the same sub in different clothes.
