I have had Virgin HD for a year now and when comparing HD broadcasts between that on SD channel. e.g. watching six nations rugby on BBC HD and switching to BBC One i cannot see any difference in picture detail! does anyone have this issue, does the box upscale normal channels?

I have checked the virgin box for 1080i output.

Hi, I have Virgin HD and think the quality is brilliant. Mind you I only watch ESPN HD and its alot better than standard ESPN. I didnt watch any rugby. As for the SD i think its a very good picture also. Much better than my parents sky SD. I just wish Virgin would get Movies in HD. The movie channel standard is one of the poorest i think.

Hi, interesting, as i cant see any difference with ESPN HD for most broadcasts, is there any particular sport you watch? do you know what the difference is between AD, S indicators are on programme info?

I can definitely see an improvement with Football on ESPN HD compared to standard ESPN.

However, I think the standard picture quality is excellent.

AD - Audio Description

S - Stereo

(I'm not 100% on that by the way....)

HD quality seems fine actually, as does most SD. Although football on ITV1 is generally awful for some reason? At least ITV HD is Virgin-bound

The problem my be that you've selected 1080i as the output, Virgin recommend 720 wide as it's prefered output, the 1080i output blurs the on screen menus, not sure it will help with your issue between HD and SD, but I can see a marginal difference between the two.
