Looking to buy my brother a vintage amp for his birthday - preferably £50 or under with the possibility that it may need a bit of work carried out after purchase.

I have been looking at the Sansui AU 317 - this seems to be highly rated. What should I be paying for one?

Any other recommendations?

Depending on condition, I think around £75; the AU-217 is around £40-£60, the 717 around £175-£200.

Hope that helps - great amp though; 50wpc and well worth tracking down.

The Sansui AU3900 or the AU2900. Beautifully fluid sounding. Almost valve like in sound. Also very attractive looking and built like a tank.
