Hi,

I'm finalising details of my Freesat purchases and was wondering if anyone had any experience of wireless video senders.

Basically I'm putting Freesat HD on my main plasma tv, but we also have a 2nd smaller tv in another room that I use most of the time for general viewing.

Question is, do I need a 2nd Freesat box or can I get a good picture on the 2nd tv (possibly in the future HD but SD at the moment) via a wireless video sender.

I've never used one of these nor do I know anyone who has so was wondering how good they are and what qualities like.

Price wise its £40-50 for a good sender compared to £130 for the Foxsat HD as a 2nd box.

personally i'd go for a second box, leaves you the flexibility of viewing different channels on the 2 tvs then.

i have used senders in the past with varying success. the other thing to note is that if you have wireless b/b this uses a 2.4ghz frequency and so do a lot of video senders and just do not work together. but you can now get senders that use a 5.4ghz signal for this very reason.

so if you do get a sender, and you have wireless b/b be sure to get one of the 5.4ghz ones

Ok thanks Dave.

2nd box is financially tough for me though at the moment as I've bought a Panny Blu Ray BD35, Humax HDR (on finding it has DISCeCQ control - kind of makes up for no Freeview recording) in the last week and still have around £200 to spend on dish installation (using top spec components to self install a clear 85cm dish rather than contract installer).

Thus if video senders are any good, might be easier on my wallet!

I'm looking at these 2 possibly:

Giga 40 or Superwand

i havn't used either of those so not sure. of the two i have used though. one was a maplins one for about 30 quid which was dreadful got loads of interference and ghosting. also had this philips one which was excellent no interference or ghosting and the picture was comparable with that of the main tv being fed direct by scart from an sky sd box.

just wanted too add,

i kinda get the impression that its pot luck with senders as to whether they work well or not.

as i say that philips one worked for me, but then i've fitted plenty of magic eyes for people in the past (which is ok if you have sky and can utilise the rf2 out) where they have tried senders and didnt work
