Hi,i've just recently bought the lg 42lh5000 tv after reading the review in the magazine.Despite fiddling with all the settings i can see faint black shadowy vertical lines when watching the cricket and football. Its really starting to spoil my enjoyment as i'm spending more time looking at the lines than watching the whats on the screen.Has anybody got any ideas what the problem is ?

Could be a poor/faulty connection. If you've got access to another cable, give that a try and see what the outcome is.

The new lg's have a lot of banding on the screen.you notice it especially when the screen is exhibitting only one colour on the whole screen.the sides are much darker.

brooky700,

I'm having a similar problem on a new Philips set, it's a vertical dark line that is only very occasionally there but is noticeable. I have tried everything and have cured it a little but I've still no idea what it is. Philips are going to look into it. If you figure out your problem can you let us all know.

Its often referred to as 'pillaring'. Its a problem that should have become much less common but unfortunately its a characteristic of some TVs and there isn't a great deal you can do about it. It can be very very irritating indeed.
