I have limited connections available for all my kit and wondered if I could connect a WD TV LIve to the HDMI port and a Wii to the Component port for the same input (Video1)on my Sony STR_es2400 amp.

I could connect the Wii diretly to the TV but would lose the upscaling.

The Wii and WD TV Live would not be used at the same time.

Will each source be displayed correctly whe it is switched on.

You can, but you'd need to go into the amp setup each time to change the settings from having that input set to the HDMI input or set to the Component input, so it's a bit fiddly.

When you say you'll lose the upscaling, your TV will be upscaling the Wii if connected directly. So it's worth connecting via the amp and also direct to the TV and comparing the picture - you may find that it looks fine with the TV upscaling the picture.

Yes the Sony will let u do that with no problems. I use a similar trick for my HD recorder (component) and PC (HDMI) on the same input.

The only thing is that the HDMI will take priority over the component if they are both on at the same time - so to watch the WII you would need to turn the WD into standby.
