Evening everyone.

Just a quick odd question. Is there visually much difference between upscaling DVD to a HD Ready screen or Full HD screen. Im looking at changing my screen to a Full HD panel, I would be installing Blu Ray at the same time, but wondered if I can expect any improvment in picture with my current DVD collection as I dont plan on replacing them all for Blu Ray.

I think that makes sense......

Ta very much, James

i dont think you would notice too much of a difference either way with upscaled dvds , they will look good on either a hd ready or full hd tv if spun for example by a sony 360 bluray player ..

but blurays will look sharper on a full hd tv ..

Thanks for the reply maxflinn.

I thought that would be the case, but wasnt 100% having never physically seen the different panels. But you dont know unless you ask.

Thanks again.

Your DVDs would probably look slightly worse, rather than better, if you buy a full HD TV, since - logically - the picture would need to be upscaled more. It would be wise to check out whether the PQ for DVDs and SD TV channels is of sufficient quality for you with a good retailer.
