upgrading system

I currently have lg pk350 new, happy with.Acoustic Energy AegisNeo 5.1 happy with. onkyo 605,ps3,marantz pm44se.I would like to improve my sound for movies and music.blu ray comes from the ps3 as does music, wav into dacmagic,into 605 or marantz.Would ideally like av receiver to do both,been loking at yamaha 2065 £525,pioneer vsx-lx52£630,would these be a big upgrade from the onkyo, and to what level would my speakers handle a new receiver before they became the week point .any help appreciated thanks.

Why not take a look at the Onkyo 608?

The Onkyo 608 is a good suggestion - it comes with a lot more refinement unlike previous generation amps from Onkyo, apparently.

I would also suggest you consider the Denon AVR-2310, which will definitely provide a marked improvement in performance terms over your Onkyo 605. This is now available for under £500.00 in limited stocks.

thats why im thinking the older models may be better,bacause the discounts available at the moment.dont need 3d ready just best sound

Yes, the older models will be technologically superior, IMO. Best bang for your buck, I'd say!

The high-end Onkyos are available for the new mid-range prices, so it is definitely worth considering, seeing that you, like me, have no interest in 3D whatsoever!

the yamaha 2065 was £1000 receiver when new and got 4 stars so for £525 seems good value,then again older denon prices are falling
