Upgrading for music/tv use - Marantz CD/PM6005 question

Hi,

I'm a bit of a hifi novice, but I need to upgrade my kit as a new Sky HD box and bluray player require audio kit with digital inputs, something my aging Denon mini lacks. The Marantz PM6005 would seem to fit the bill, as my primary use will be listening to cds, but with the ability to run Sky/bluray audio through the kit also. My question is, if I pair it with a CD6005, is there a benefit to connecting the CD player via one of the two digital inputs on the amp, or can I run it through the analogue CD inputs with no discernable loss of audio quality, keeping the two digital inputs on the amp free for the sky HD box and the Bluray player?

Am thinking of pairing this set up with Q Accoustics 2020i.

Thanks for any tips.

As the amp and cd player have the same dac, I agree that there should be no difference in the 2 connection methods. As such, there is a case for buying a cheaper cd player than the 6005 (or even a dvd player as long as the transport isn't noisy and it has a display) with a digital output and using the dac in the amp.

Thanks for the advice. Did consider a cheaper CD player, but I like the ipod function on the CD6005. Much cheaper alternative would be to upgrade my Denon DM38 to the DM39 which now has digital input. Haven't been hugely impressed with the DM38 though, very noisy CD transport and annoyingly large jumps between volume levels.
