My present set-up is a Sharp MD-X5H microsystem with standard 25w speakers and Bush MTT1 turntable, all around a decade old. I am looking to upgrade the turntable and possibly speakers to something higher quality. But the dilema I have is whether to stick with the present microsystem or not... Does this have enough power to support better quality speakers? Any recommendations for speakers and turntable both in the sub-£200 category? Cheers!

That Bush turntable(now hear me out audiophiles) is awsome! The soundstage is about twenty-times better than my Project Debut III!

Try looking at some JVC Super-Class A integrated amplifiers (from the 70s and 80s) to get hi-fi at cheap prices - and then speaker wise, I would look at the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s.
