upgrade to onkyo 5010 or yamaha 3020

hi,desperately seeking advice and help upgrading my onkyo 609 which is running out of steam powering my monitor audio rx8 av12 speaker package

I'm relatively a novice in the world of AVR, but having recently demo'd a whole load of AVR's I can tell you the 3020 will easily handly your RX8 av12. I demo'd and ended up buying a 2020, which I demo'd with RX6's, RX8's, B&W 683 plus others. The 2020 handled these with ease, so this should be a breeze in the park for the 3020. One thing I would say is go demo it yourself, also try the Pioneer SC-LX86 as that's also a great AVR. I'd demo all 4 if you can and decide for yourself. If you can find yourself a copy of March WHF they tested the following

Denon AVR-4520.........4 Stars

Onkyo TX-NR3010.......4 Stars

Pioneer SC-LX86.........5 Stars

Yamaha RX-A3020......5 Stars and the winner of the test

thanks for the info,unfortunately where i live i cant get demos on these so it makes it toughalso wanted to know if i can get the cambridge audio 851a & use it as a power amp to drive the rx8's & get the onkyo 818 or yamaha 1020;will this work,not sure,also i have the rx8's biamped.

the speakers tend to distort in the treble when pushing towards reference level volume hence the need to upgrade,i reckon the rx8's are mighty tough to drive so i figured the more power the better.

am also using qed silver anniversary biwire & hae cambridge audio 851c

which would be the better match fir my set up,the onkyo 5010 or the yamaha 3020 or maybe suggestions on other av receivers to get the best out of my system and drive the rx8's,any advise or experience with similar set ups would be greatly appreciated,thank you in advance.
