Hi Guys, I am currently running 5 B&W M-1s with an old receiver (NAD T751) and no sub.

I am unsure as to what I should buy next (possibly this weekend): A new Onkyo receiver, TX-NR807 for £600-£650 or the PV-1 sub for £800.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

ps. I have decided to go for the Onkyo based on reviews and also due to the fact that it is DLNA certified within this price range.

Seriously dude. You need a sub. If the PV1 is out of reach, there are a bunch of other B&W subs to suit. The ASW610XP, ASW610 & ASW608 (Listed in descending price order).

I would look at upgrading your receiver once the sub's in place. You're missing out on so much. The M1s do a respectable job with mids for their size, but a style system without a sub is just wrong!

I hadn't considered alternative subs within the B&W range and now seriously considering the ASW610XP as I have now compared the specs to that of the ASW610 and the PV-1. Would I be correct to conclude that the specs of of ASW610XP are similar to that of the PV-1 and that I may be paying more just for style/aesthetics with the PV-1?

Cheers Buddy............

Well. There are differences. The PV1 uses two 8" drivers. The 610 uses a single 10".

I don't want to steer you from the PV1 (I have one. It's great). But just wanted to let you know there are other options.

Not sure what the XP brings to the 610 party myself (is it just a bigger amp? 500w against 200w of the regular 610), but I'm sure a trawl of the web will yield results.
