By the way Dougie, if you're confused by this, sorry, but I'm sure that anybody able to give you an answer to your question will still do so. Hopefully if they've gotten distracted by the noise then this will remind them that your question is still unanswered...

If you've read the previous acres of posting on this subject you're probably well aware that a yes or no won't do!!!!

As it happens I'm not fed up of this subject, I'm fed up of trying to debate something that clearly matters to lots of people with a prejudiced moron that doesn't understand the difference between scientific cynicism and scientific bigotry. I believe that everybody here is a grown up and able to make up their own minds on these things and that any debate should exist at that level. This is not slashdot.

Regardless...

Oldphrt would probably say that your power leads can't make a difference. Period. He has some scientific justification for that assertion. (This isn't sarcastic.)

I would say, if the lead is just a conductor, by which I mean there is no filtering in place, then it's probably not going to affect much. I think I have a strong justification, scientific and logical (different!), for that assertion. I may be wrong - see many of my previous posts. If however you're putting some filtering in, then assuming (not a trivial word) you have dodgy mains you may well get an improvement. I have not done listening comparisons between power leads.

I'll not presume to speak for him, but I suspect that Ifitsoundsgoodlistentoit would probably suggest that a good power lead could make a difference and he would probably have good subjective evidence to support that too.

So really to answer your question - I don't know! If you were planning on buying some cable you have the good solid try it and send it back if it doesn't do it for you option. Making them, you don't have that get out clause.

I'd love to answer your question authoritatively but I can't put my hand on my heart and do that, so I won't. As with most DIY projects, you pretty much end up on your own I'm afraid.

Sorry this post doesn't actually help you at all.

:)

This is a weird discussion. I would have to ask what is there in a short piece of wire that can affect the appliance it's connected to. I can't think of anything that would change by replacing it so my answer would be yes.

ive upgraded the cables on my equipment which are connected to the internal circuitry, ie. no plug on the component end. I just used some thick, screened ofc cable with a ferrite core on and a nice MK plug, to replace the standard ones. There was a difference.

According to this website http://www.highfidelitydiscs.nl/customer/search.php?substring=oyaide
and this website http://deaudiofabriek.nl/stroom_voorziening
both Oyaide (Japanese) and LappKabel ™lflex seem to be good brands.

After some searching found Labbkabel at 2.99 a metre on ebay
http://audio.listings.ebay.at/Stromkabel-Leisten_Lapp_W0QQsacatZ141229QQsocmdZListingItemList
and also here http://www.audioconnexion.de/en/bulk.html

Oyaide wire you can order from here:

I think this will get you on the way for now. Please let me know if the mains cable makes a difference to the sound!?

Best wishes,

Solomon

Nice one hifi-nut.
Ive had a good look at this cable and i think the supra will be the one to get. Unless someone comes up with something better, but they'd better be quick because my credit card is nearly out. Thanks.
