My planned upgrades for next year (apart from the fridge and the living room carpet) were being very carefully thought about, researched and carefully budgeted.
But then...
I read a review of something called an Accuphase A-213 in Hi-fi+ magazine last week on a long train journey.
!!!!
Like some lumbering 1970s style, gold anodized, dinosaur with big VU meters and impeccable build quality and tone controls and a loudness button (!) it stomped around my - Virgin Rail weakened - consciousness and has popped up in my thoughts every day since.
It will not go away.
I find myself scouring ebay for big 1980s Tannoy concentrics to go with it!
I have just discovered that Luxman are still making these big meter festooned monsters as well (but not for us Brits it seems).
Do you good people know of any other retro-styled, good, big 'integrateds' in current production and available in the UK? (Must have VU meters). If there is a receiver out there of this caliber please, please tell me.
