Thought Mark Radcliffe summed it up pretty well in an aside on his show on Radio 2 last night. Very witty. Got the impression that after all the airplay he'd given them earlier in his career (and theirs), getting them in the studio, etc., he couldn't get near them for the entourage of "75 talking into their cufflinks and hanging round the coffee machine" unlike the days when they needed - and got - a hand up.

Totally unimpressed with this media blast. It's like "hey, we're still here, we're still relevant". Pfft. The music can do the talking, shut up the four of them, get the guitars on and get back tae work!

"Thanks to the Metropolitan Police, we owe you one" - like what? Turn informant and take the King's Shilling? Please...

Great band, no quibble with that - everything up to Zooropa was near genius IMO. Bono's PR/good causes work I'm generally all for, sometimes you need to be a charming egotistical git to get the doors open, where Geldof shouted them down. Whatever. Plugging the album this much has killed it before I've even heard the danm thing.

Oh, you know - if they can sort out global warming, the credit crunch and the rise of world capitalism (oh, hang on...), then solving a spate of ram-raiding in Nawf Lahrnd'n should be a doddle for Bono of the Yard

Look out for the next single: "Get yer stroides on, you're nicked" c/w "I'm The Edge, son, and I 'aven't ad me dinner"

He's a rock star who insists on wearing sunglasses in the dark - fool

He did a seal impression on the radio but won't let it be shown on TV - worried about his image

He always pleads with people to give their money to good causes but is quite happy to spend the GNP of a small African country on houses for himself - hmmmm

What a muppet!

PS I have a copy of Joshua Tree and their music hasn't interested me since
