I just got a 42 inch plasma pz85b ( see other post) no there is a fault with it and they are replacing it however im concerned im abit to close to the screen being that we are only 2.5 meters away .HD content looks cracking but sd looks a bit dodgy. am i to close? i might be in a position to change this for a 37 or 40 lcd/plasma but i have no idea which one id get!

I'm only a bit further back from you and think my 42" is okay, but really you're the only one who can decide this - some people have 50" TVs at that distance! It's all down to your own preference really.

Check out our How To choose the right size of TV for more info on correct viewing distances. I sit 3m from my 40in screen which is fine, but 2.5m for a 42in might be a little on the close side for viewing SD broadcasts on a 42in.
I sit about 2.5m from My 50"" and its fine. Yes You can if You look closly notice some noise and grian in some SD broadcasts but not bad enough to spoil You overall enjoyment, but switch to HD any away You go.
