TV sound through Amp/Speakers

Please excuse my limited grasp of all things surround sound (and be kind/understanding in replies). I've recently bought a Yamaha RXv667 amp with jamo A102 HCS5 speakers (I know that the amp can power better speakers but it's an introductory system and was very keenly priced) to partner a Panasonic TX-p42g10 tv and a PS3. Oh and a Sky + box. All seems to be working ok with the PS3 sound (movies and games) and through an optical lead the Sky box. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the TV to send sound through the amp. I was hoping for surround sound from the Freesat HD channels. Is there a simple explanation? I used the amp instructions to no avail unfortunately even though the correct (AV4) setting appers on the amp. Left to it's own devices a rather fetching picture of the innards of a piano appears on the TV screen from the amp. Do I need to change something on the TV or bite the bullet and pay Mr Sky an extra £10 a month for sky HD? And another HDMI cable. Would that fix it?

Thanks! I'm grateful for any help.

You need to run either an optical cable or stereo interconnect from your TVs audio outputs to a spare input on your amp, to get sound from your TVs internal Freesat tuner through your amp..
