is it not possible when a tv is reviewed that you could detail the settings that the tv was reviewed at? ie contrast, backlight etc so that if that set is then purchased based on your ratings we could then set up the tv to these settings and see for our selves how it should be looked at from an experts view.i'm sure most people are not getting the best from thier purchase and i know this would be use.

This is a subject that has risen it's head a few times before on these forums.

IMHO your TV must be calibrated at home in your viewing enviroment and using your other equipment (BD player etc) to achieve the best ossible settings for you, any settings gathered by others will not necessarily give optimum viewing results as the equipment, cables etc will differ from those that you are using along with your ambient lighting which has a big effect on your TVs settings.

As a starting point use the THX optimser found on many DVDs.

Totally agree with D.J. Krime on this one besides What Hi-Fi usually include settings of any relevance in the reviews ie what backlight setting was used, but you can't expect What Hi-Fi to carry out reviews in various different conditions that's just not practical....however nice it would be!
