tv optical output

Do modern tv's resample audio to 16/48 from optical output? Or can i pass 24/192 audio via hdmi to optical unchanged?

Optical is limited to 24/96 iirc, but I'd be surprised if any TV passes it through anyway. I haven't got the means to check though...

Course, it all sounds the same ;-)

Thanks for your thoughts John. My laptop does 24/192 via optical but it's very noisy for the living room so i'm using a mini fanless pc with only hdmi out. Thought i could use optical out of my 42" lg tv. I'm a bit ocd about sample rates you're probably right about it all sounding the same!
