TV not switching automatically to my PS3 HDMI input

Hi - as above from the title. When I use scart inputs (e.g. Sky) it's OK, but I have to set to HDMI 1 when I want to use my PS3 - even though I "think" I've set the PS3 to switch the TV (when I scan for HDMI devices, the TV doesn't find anything). Do I need a specific standard of HDMI cable (mine is cheap as I could find), or am I missing something else...?

Sorry, good point! It's a Sony 26" (S3000 I think)

Does HDMI switch automatic, I thought not.

It does with my Samsung. There is an option to turn it off or on.
