can anybody help me? i,ve got a problem with my sky hd, i,ve got a philips 37pf9830 television, which has only a dvi connection, sky hd and sony blu ray all linked up to my onkyo tx-sr606 receiver. while i,ve been watching my sky the picture goes off to show a blue screen for a couple of seconds, then returns to normal, this happens every so often, i,ve tried changing leads over and even had sky out to change the box, but still no better, anyone with any ideas on what might be the problem, also while watching my dvds i can,t get any sound out of my tv speakers

I think the first problem may be an HDMI handshaking problem, or rather a non-HDMI-handshaking one: the HDMI connection requires a 'call and response' routine every now and then to ensure you're not running the HDMI into any naughty pirate-type recording device. The DVI connection can't supply this, so there can be a momentary break in sound and vision as a result.

Have you tried connecting the Sky+HD box straight to the TV, with an optical digital connection from Sky+HD to the amp? The direct video connection may solve the problem, but if you stick with your current set-up check HDMI control is turned off on the Onkyo.

The sound problem from Blu-ray is down to the fact that DVI is a video-only connection - you'll also need to run an audio feed from the BD player to the TV's line audio inputs.

Not to sound daft -

It's not due to the sky box output being set to auto and it happens when the programme changes resolution ?

Just a thought.
