Turntable Problem

Hi,

I've just set up my new turntable and am very confused at the problem I am having.

I have set up a Pro-ject Debut Carbon, running into a Musical Fidelity V-LPSII phonostage, then into my stereo.

When everything is plugged in, the signal seems quite weak with some parts quieter than others and slightly muffled. However, this is the odd part, when I unplug one channel (doesn't matter which) from the back of the turntable, signal is boosted and sounds almost perfect.

Please help!

Thank you,

Ben.

I've tried it with different outputs. Into a Saffire Pro 40 and then outputted into a kenwood stereo. And I've tried it straight into Tannoy Monitors.

Saffire Pro is an audio interface I connect with my computer. I use it so I can have several inputs and several outputs at the same time. I haven't tried it straight into the kenwood as I haven't got the cables right now. Out of interest, what would the reason be for that to make a difference?
