Turntable amp?

hello the people of what hi-fi forums... I've got a question to ask, my dads got his turntable and it isn't playing up o its full standards... you know why... because its a Linn akito turntable setup being played on a £60 pro-ject phono box! what amplifier would be best to play this on? all together his turntable is actually a Linn basik with a Linn akito arm and Linn k9 stylus, (still a very nice piece of kit) and his speakers are £600-£900 tannoy speakers,
(sorry but i dont actually know the exact name for the speakers) if you can help please...do.

linn do their own phonostage which should suit it. otherwise the graham slee ones get pretty good reviews if i remember rightly.

I'd replace the cartridge before the phono stage.........

But you don't mention an amp - do you mean he hasn't got one?

I would replace the cartridge - was never really a fan of the K9 (which is a tweaked audio-technica) - try maybe an Ortofon 2M - the red is about £70 and the blue (which I have and love) is around £100...
