Trying to grasp some jargon.....

Back in the Ultimate Guide of 2005 (I think), WHFI S&V described the Arcam A65 Plus as having a "British sound". Could someone, please define what 'British sound' means....or is? Or if amps or CDP's don't have a "British Sound" what sound do they have?

I think of the British sounds as being lean, clean, and detailed. Quality over quantity. Basically the opposite of the American sound which I would describe as deep, fat, and bold.

restrained and polite a bit like the characters hugh grant plays in movies
