Toshiba XD-E500 for claire or any at WHF

I was wondering how the Tosh performed against the current bluray players with dvd upscaling. My first dvd player was the Tosbiba sd100e with a great picture but a noisey player. Just really want to know how it would perform against my current players ie: ps3 and Samsung F-1080. Liking it really because its at a good price, to fill the gap until bluray becomes the more popular choice . I have no budget but to be realistic if its no better than the ps3 or any bluray player around the £300 price range then what would you suggest getting to better the ps3.

Hi Lobby,

The XD-E500 is an undeniably great upscaling DVD player, but to be honest, Blu-ray players have come such a long way in that department this year, and are now available at such competitive prices, that I think the time is right to take the plunge. If I was after a new disc spinner and had up to £300 to spend, I'd be buying the Panasonic DMP-BD35 (reviewed in the November issue - on sale now!).

Oh, the Toshiba is definitely a better DVD upscaler than the PS3 and Samsung F-1080, though.
