Toshiba LCD

Hi Guys, been looking for a 1080p tv for a little while along with reading your reviews etc. Just seen the Toshiba 40XF355DB advertised for £699, which seems a great buy, my question is as the Toshiba 40ZF355DB and other models in the the same price range (£1200) have 100hz is there much difference. does the difference warrent an extra £500. I would be watching SD sky (sports), dvds upgraded to 1080i and hopefully Blueray (when purchased) I would be sitting approx 2.5m away from screen

Hi, Just thought I would let you know that I was going to get the 40xf355d until i found out that the zf was coming out so I got that instead, I 'm no expert but i'm really pleased with the zf but now that Curry's are offering it for £699 I too thought was it worth the extra money? All i know is the zf is much better spec and the price has only dropped a little since i got mine a little while ago so obviously people are trying to get rid of the lower spec model ie Curry's. But without waffling too much more is it worth the extra £500 ? I don't really know either. Cheers Paul.

Thanks for the reply Paul, I thought what the hell and bought it at that price i really do not think the 100hz could warrent the extra cash. really happy with the tv and the standard of SD picture. When testing i looked at several lcd tvs and the sound seemed very low even when turned up to nearly full, but on the Toshiba the sound seems well above average good clear loud sound from the onkyo speakers.

Has the much reported problems with this XF model been fixed? (Feb 25th Colinwatkins) Was it just a problem with a certain batch or just that the brightness was left too high?

The £699 looks good but not if the set is fundementally flawed or inconsistently produced.(seems unlikely given the test set in the April edition worked OK?

Please can magazine staff clarify?
