My Tosh hd-e1 has started refusing to play sd dvds after over 12 months of perfect playback. If it does manage to start playing a dvd it will freeze the picture after a few minutes. It has the latest firmware upgrade and it still plays hd dvds no problems.I wondered if you can somehow reset by the remote control.I m hopng someone can help me out as the player does a great job upscaling dvd. Also ive read on other forums that this model can easily be made region free on sd playback,if so does anyone know how?

Cheers

Gary

Have you tried contacting Toshiba? Their customer services department was very useful when I had to contact them.

Thanks for your reply and how right you are. I have just been on the phone to Toshiba customer services and explained the fault and they are sending me a replacement model EP30,even though my current model is out of warranty.Excellent customer service!!

Do you have to send back the E1?
Apparently EP30 is much better.
Well done.

They didnt ask for it to be sent back. They just said i would receive the replacement on friday.

That's damn good of them, not many companies woudl do that me thinks. Nice one...just roll with it.

I wonder if they have a load in stock to get rid of.
Amazon still want £110 for the EP30.

yeh who knows, I mite get hold of a cheap E1 myself then say the same thing as above and see if i can get and ep30 sent to me, hehehe.

IMO I think it's better than the BD-30.
