Toshiba Blu Ray Player Only 4 Stars.

You would think after loosing the format war they would do a really good one.

Bit disappointing it only got 4 stars after all there hd dvd player's were getting 5 stars.

It's not that surprising, everyone else is on their 2nd or 3rd generation of blu-ray player, this is Toshiba's first, so I don't know why you'd be surprised to seem them a little behind the curve.

I think you misunderstand the rating system.4 stars is actually a really good player (as WH also states), its just not the best in its price range. Only the best players in their price range get 5 stars.

It's probably not even a Toshiba inside anyway..... I'm sure if you search around for a more technical review, you might find what innards it uses.

Every single pioner blu ray player has got 5 stars mind you they are the best, sony as I can recall they all got 5 stars, pansonic I think most have got 5 stars.

Not all the Toshiba HD DVD players got five stars, actually - the first one ( the Toshiba HD-E1) got four

Wrong again - they've all had less than five-star ratings in their time (Pioneer's had a three-star in the past).

First one pioneer bdp-lx70 5 stars.

Second one pioneer bdp-lx70a 5 stars.

Pioneer bdp-lx71 5 stars.

Pioneer bdp-51f 5 stars.

Pioneer bdp-lx91 5 stars

Yes, Pioneer has made some excellent Blu-ray players - it's certainly never made a poor one; the LX08 lost out on value rather than any major performance flaw.

The Toshiba player is a decent start from a company coming new to the market. If they divert some real engineering effort to their next model - and keep prices real-world - there's no reason why they can't be up there with the class leaders.

right back at you the LX08 is just the same as the pioneer bdp-lx71 and that got 5 stars.

I think you are right the toshiba's will get better and I think I can recall seeing the next one will be more expensive?
