I currently have the kef 2005.2 speaker package, and am looking to upgrade my amp. my speakers are each capable of 100w so my first thought was the new denon 1909, which costs £450. but now i have seen the onkyo 875 for only £599 i am torn. I would like to get the 875 so that when i upgrade my speakers my amp is up to the job. my concern is using the more powerful amp with my speakers, will it damage them? any advice would be appreciated

Won't damage them as long as you're sensible - if you turn up and start to hear distortion, turn the volume back down again. 100w should be fine though except for blisteringly loud volumes.

Indeed. I have a 200 WPC amp, and my speakers are rated at 150 WPC.
I am sure if I turned my amp to max, the speakers would give way at some point, but long after my ears exploded.

You are much more likely to damage a speaker with an amplifier that is UNDERPOWERED, rather than overpowered, as clipping will occur.
