TO BUY A DAC OR NOT ?

i have a mac mini which i now use as my main music source (trying to have less cables boxes etc ) and i dont listen to as much music as i used too.

currently i have the mac hooked up to an arcam av9 with an optical cable !

would this

A. be the best method to connect the devices and

B. would the DAC'S in the arcam be good enough .

I would say a) yes, b) yes, there really is no need to buy a DAC in this case.

the arcam has the same dac in it as the dac magic the WM8740 although will be wired differently - you would have to spend considerably more than the dac magic for any significant improvemnets
