Hello,

With Spotify introducing lossless streaming I would like to add this to my hifi setup.

For streaming I currently use Belkin SoundForm Connect AirPlay 2 however I don’t believe I can use this for Spotify lossless.

Would this be a good option ?
WiiM Mini AirPlay 2 Wireless Audio Streamer using Spotify Connect.

I will be using the optical out and the DAC in my amp ( Cyrus 8XP d QX )

Thanks for your input!

Pretty sure AirPlay is lossless, so don’t think you need to change anything.

If you use the WiiM, then you’ll also need to able to use Spotify connect, which is a few less clicks & responds faster to track changes etc.

Spotify is not yet lossless over Airplay 2.

Airplay 2 does seem down-sample to AAC 256 over wifi but not cable. I'm not an Apple user so I'm happy to be shown up as an eejit.

That said, I'd go the Wiim route. It is fairly cheap, with good support and good interface.

When I stream Spotify via Airplay to my Linn streamer or Apple HomePod speaker it shows as “airplay lossless”.

Have you tried it?

No, Airplay 2 is not lossless, and behind the scenes it will adapt the bitrate to what it thinks is optimum depending on your network.

Trying to stream anything lossless over Airplay is a fool's errand.
