Its time to upgrade my AV receiver, currently Cambridge Audio AZUR 520, that I use to run my Mordaunt Short Premier home cinema pack.

I will eventually get around to upgrading my speakers, and am leaning towards the Aviano 6 speaker pack or Dali Ikon, but current dilemma is the av reciever.

Never been a fan of Onkyo, and was planning to spend my dosh on the Denon 2311, but since then have had spanners throw in the works after having a listen to the Onkyo 608 vs. Denon 1911. So current contenders are Denon, Yamaha & Onkyo, maybe even Pioneer if anyone's had a good experience with them.

Any advice and help would be much appreciated

Hi Marty,

Onkyo for me! I was looking for an AV receiver which had good musicality, as I also have to use it for music playback instead of a seperate Hi-fi set up. Would recommend you audition an Onkyo. Their newer receivers also have quite alot of finesse, as my friend found out when he exchanged a duffer Denon AVR-1911 for an Onkyo TX-SR608 and liked it so much, he kept it! It just walked off with the WHF Home cinema amplifier Product of the Year, so it must be quite good!

Marty, the Yamaha 667 has just gone down by £100 to £350 at certain dealers as has the Pioneer 920. Both of these would be great matches with your speakers, particularly the Yamaha
