Time For A Change of Speaker?

OK, I admit it; I’m a bit of a hypocrite. Having recently responded to a thread and recommending restraint, I am still thinking of spending on new speakers. I think that the existing pair is just not right for the room, and no amount of changing cables will sort out the bass which has lost its definition. They are too close to the corners of the room, with no scope for adequate adjustment in the foreseeable future.

So, given the equipment below, does anyone have recommendations for some corner-loving stand mounts, please? I will, in due course, be looking to spend up to £500 but would it be pure folly to go higher? I fully admit that I don’t have a perfect listening environment or the chance to listen as often as I would prefer to my system, but I feel it is time to make a change to speakers better than I now possess. A powerful bass is not particularly important, but the accurate reproduction of the music much more appreciated, particularly if it can be achieved at relatively low volumes.

Any helpful advice or opinions welcome please.

You could do worse than listen to Epos and AVI's speakers in that price bracket, ie the m12 and the Neutron V.

Good call Joel. AVI Neutrons or possibly the discounted Spendor S3e (eBay lists new units at £600).

Gentlemen, thanks for the guidance - I will add those to my list of possible auditions. I had noted the AVIs on previous threads, but had forgotten since. However, the others you mention are new possibilities to consider.

Coincidentally I'm down there this weekend, but going by train - might be tricky lugging them home if I drop in, audition and like those Spendors! Almost tempting to buy them online anyway at that discount.

But will they be suited to the components I have? I should hate to buy a pair and then find that my Audiolab and Marantz have become the weak links, not capable of driving the speakers to their potential. I don't want another round of upgrades to result! The Spendors do look seriously tempting though.
