well the quality of sound was always a plus as when young i heard music in every type of stereo , but at home music seemed to come alive, no one else had that much money spent on a system like my father, and from 2 to 2 years something brutally expensive just for the fun of having at home what was considered the best,

kids used to make fun of my system in the bedroom ,"it´s all made of wood and iron" but i used to increase the volume and stop hearing them, but all came to me to record reels or cassettes,

many had those old big radios with the main cities of the european countries and a portable litle reels player with luck ,radio too, heavy as hell, this already in the 70´s was still in use ,also those big piece of furniture with a big arm in metal in the record player, not working but radio would be always on,

the diamond stylus where i lived after coming from Africa, was maybe my turntable and other guy from police forces ,all the neighborhood with houses not buildings were using still those stylus that a record after being listened in those old stylus would never sound perfect in a diamond stylus turntable,

in the 80´s i notice some still had them and guys that bought a lot of records, big wooden systems with a 8-track cartridge deck ,horizontal compact systems,

there was a brand more used that was "Silvano" modern looking with nice features and cassettes already
Harvard Business School and other European management schools already analyse and review different centuries old and as well as new companies. Surprisingly, Hi-Fi brands were never really narrated or documented that made it to business charts. Like the story of photography films to digital ones.
Then by now most households would already be having and had experienced the greatest music listening experience, as there would be tremendous growth and developments in the home Hi-Fi music listening space for various organisations to exploit opportunities and globally innovate in all aspects of the brand journey in selling Hi-end home audio setups.

A nice dealer show room. Unfortunately there are less and less. Barcelona has an amazing dealer, I made a short youtube vid once and most recently I by accident popped into Winchester Hifi during a visit of the city. I didn't know they exist and he only opens by appointment but he was kind enough to let us in.

The smell, the gear. Lovely.

As a youngster, the stack systems like my Pioneer brought me into the world of HiFi and it was a relationship I never grew out of. Though I did other things, I always came back to my first love.
Same with my first proper system, although not the greatest, it was joyous.

It was a vintage stereo receiver from JVC. Then I replaced it with a Pioneer SA-706 integrated amp and a Marantz tuner (the latter still in the attic, and it works).
