The advice is wrong on so many levels.
It's another piece of hifi stupidity. I get that room acoustics can be an issue, and sometimes may need correction, but I've moved house many times with my kit and by and large the rooms haven't been too much of a problem. Painted walls and varying between solid and sprung floors.
The characteristics of my set-up shine through in the same fashion wherever I have been.
The most important component of my hifi IS what I think it is, which is good kit playing the music as I like to hear it.
