The Hurt Locker

I mean in the sense that it appeared to be a number of fairly unconnected incidents strung together at random, and that those incidents didn't have me on the edge of my seat (sofa) in the way that I was expecting. Not much (what a film student might call) narrative drive, in other words.

SPOILER ALERT - don't read unless you've seen the film!

Hmm. Seemed to me to be about a bomb disposal team's experience in Iraq - their first sergeant who is well respected by the team is killed at the beginning and the new guy is essentially an adrenaline junky, very reckless and doesn't bother with his own safety getting himself and his team into trouble - most of the film demonstrates this and how the team love and hate him at the same time. The end demonstrates the beginning tag line that "war is a drug" - the sergeant can't settle down into a normal life and plunges himself back into the combat.

Fair enough if you didn't enjoy it though!

Yes agreed, but it was like the bit you just spoiled was supposed to be some big reveal/twist and I was thinking "yeah, and?"

Poor old Mike from Neighbours - you had no sympathy for him?! Surprised me actually, I thought he was going to be quite a main character in it. Then again, the use of Evangeline Lilly's name on the billboards was fairly misleading. Blink and you'll miss her!

Well dying's no fun, admittedly...Bigelow did appear to have a "ooo famous actor let's kill them off within five minutes, that'll shock 'em" thing going on.

I was thinking more of the end which made me go "yeah, and?" though.

Ahh, fair enough. Was it meant to be a twist? If so, I see your point. Still liked it though

I agree with both points of view. I liked the film, though I did think they could have ended it with anything that would have given the story more gravity. I don't know what, but something.

JohnDuncan:Is it just me, or is this film a bit rubbish and pointless?

It's just you.

Although, unlike the Academy Awards, I would agree it's not the best thing since sliced bread.
