The spendor dealer I bought my A6's from sells them and swears by the brand. I haven't listened to it myself, but I trust this dealer who really knows his stuff. Also, Sam Tellig of stereophile mag wrote: "I'll throw caution to the wind and say that the LFD Integrated
Zero Mk.III LE is the bestsounding solid-state integrated amplifierI have ever heard. I know of no other integrated, of any type, that
sounds quite so right. I base this on listening to four different samples in sessions held nearly 10 years apart. It's not one of the best, blah blah blah, but the best."

Now thats a serious recommendation.

EDIT: Oh,I guess you've seen that quote. I should've read your link first...LOL...

Damn straight! If they arrive tomorrow I'll get some pics up and any initial thoughts. Tbh I'm really curious to know how much better it can sound than the 909.... a bit of an experiment really. The quad is STREETS ahead of the cambridge 540a I had before but I can't really believe there can be that much of a jump up in SQ again.

We'll see!

Yeah, I can relate, but I'm starting to change my opinion on the subject. I use to be firmly convinced that speakers should get the lions share of my hifi budget. The more I hear quality electronics, the more I'm starting to lean the other way. I got to audition some high end BAT gear the other day and was really impressed. I may be becoming one of those source, then amp, THEN speakers guys...

I agree, although differences in cdps is still the thing I have most difficulty picking up on. For me its amp - speaker - source. Maybe that'll change when I get that benchmark on trial!

Apparently the lfd does voices like a quad but with a super tight bottom end. It'll need to at least match the quad midband if I'm to keep it. Couldn't cope without that lovely rich vocal reproduction.

Thats me mate - midnight over here. Laters.

Oakman:

Still need to make up my mind between these and the PMC FB1i so your feedback will be eagerly awaited.

If you're interested, I've now heard the OB1is and the FB1is at home, and the ATCs at the factory. I would say that the ATCs could be bright in the wrong system, but I will need to try them at home before judging. Re the PMCs, the OB1i is streets ahead of the FB1i - two very different speakers. I was disappointed with the FB1i to be honest - very pacey and clearly defined, but not well balanced IMHO, compared to my current Dynaudios - the treble seemed too strong for the midrange. The 3-way OB1i is superbly balanced tonally and very revealing, as was the ATC sounded when I heard it. ATCs may well integrate better in most living rooms as the OB1is are pretty powerful in the bass!
