I think i know the answer but just want to check.

Sound in to TV via HDMI can not be sent out Via the Digi out can it?

Dont think it can so that means a juggle of the cables from the new internet TV box...

So if anyone can confirm that it is not possible (or tell how) that would be great.

Er, do you mean a digital optical out from the TV? I had a digital optical out from my Sony KDL 32W5500 linked up via HDMI to a DVD player. Sound worked.....

what i am asking is does the sound inputted from the HDMI input get transitted out Via the TV Digi Coax out.

If it can be what is the setting.

Not that i believe it can be but want to check before spending on a new cable.

I have the LX5090 and it certainly does on this set. I was experiencing freeview problems on my 5090 (have now clearede up!) and so used my panasonic DVD recorder as a freeview box connected to the TV via HDMI. I then ran an optical cable from the TV dig out to my AVR. IT worked fine. Obviously you won't get enhanced audio.

There was no specific set up required. The dig out is active all the time as are the stereo outs. You just need to tell your amp to use the relevant digital input that you connect your optical cable to as the source.

However the digital out on the tv is about 10dB lower than other equipment outputs so you may need to adjust your amp's input to +10dB for that input. There is no adjustment of the level available on the tv.

If the 508 has a coax out, I assume it will behave in the same way.

Cooney thanks for that, the 5080 does have a optical out and i have sound from it from the on-board tuners but I do not get sound out of the Optical when using HDMI conection 3 on thr TV (4 is connected from the AV AMP and 1 is connected from the PC DVI to HDMI so separate optical cabe)

Starting to run out of connections on the back of the amp!

Hi Nads, that's a bit weird. Coincidently my DVD recorder is connected via input 3 on my 5090. It may seem very obvious and I am sure that you have, but have you set your source device to output sound via the HDMI? Perhaps the HDMI out is set to video only. That's about all that I can think of.

Yes like I said I have sound at the TV but not via the optical out.

It just seems to be a connection in the TV that is not present or I have not turned it on!
