No idea mate, can you take it up with the seller? This should've been made clear if there were any issues with it. Was it an Ebay purchase? Either way, if it was sold as seen then you haven't got much comeback, but if it was pitched as being something other than it's turned out to be (good working order, etc) then you might be able to do something about it. Tougher if it's not on Ebay though.

yeah he said he tested them before he sent them and they were fine. He had insurance on the parcel so may be able to claim on that.. Cheers anyway

Having thought a little more about this, my nomination would go to;

A years subscription to Spotify and a pair of JVC HAS 160.

Ok, its not second hand but I doubt anything else would give the quality and fun of these two for this sort of money. - This is assuming you have a phone or pc/laptop.

I must have missed this thread first time around... for what it's worth, a while ago I picked up a Pioneer PD-S505 for £11, a Kenwood 3020SE for nothing and some Mordaunt Short MS10i for £19 - that £30 system sounded pretty good!

It has been a few months since this was updated - do people still agree with their choices ?

Yes pretty much. Though the missions are more expensive these days. The 751 standmount is a good alternative though for similar or less money.

All eBay, I got celestion Dutton 150s for £12 and a Cambridge audio amplifier for £16. Pug in my phone as source, with the lead it came with, and recycled 13amp mains cable. Total cost £28

I was blo*dy lucky with eBay though.

Oh, also got a pair of KEF q15.2 and stands for 20 quid a couple of years back

I am currently using AE109 bough s/h for £80, I never want to stop listening to them,

not the last word in ultimate detail resoloution , but an unfatiging musical listen, with a transparent soundstage and the bass is punchy . A superb bargain buy if you can find a well looked after pair, you will need 2 strong people to lift each one safely, they are that heavy , Cant believe some people have called the treble on these bright and harsh, never
