Thank you & time to upgrade

Dear All,

thank you for all your help some time ago what allowed me to really enjoy home cinema and stereo for past year or so.

Following your advice I went for arcam 600 and b&w 804 to front and 805 to rear and Velodyne dd . Can not thank you enough as I would have never picked that without your help.

I will be moving house in couple of months so need to upgrade. The room will be larger

I am thinking of 802 to front keep 803 for rear sell 805 keep Velodyne and upgrade the amp.

Can you please advice or just let me know your thoughts

Hi Tom, it's good to see you on here again......and I'm delighted that you are getting so much enjoyment out of your set-up, which after all, is what it's all about.

My opinion about what is important is still the same, as outlined in your thread here: http://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/bw-0

Here would be my thoughts on this:

- Set it up in the new location, and see how it sounds.

- What size is your new room?

- Are you Bi-Amping the fronts?

- Which model of Sub and Centre are you using atm (most important for HT)?

- Where you spend your money depends on how important 2 channel is to you ie. Whether it's worth upgrading front L & R, as well as spending money on a better source (what are you using?).

- IMO. The Rear Surrounds are the least important place to spend money, so I would stick with the 805s (for Rears), unless there is little financial penalty in using the floorstanders.

- Amp wise, if looking to upgrade it could be sensible to wait for the new models from Arcam, which should also mean their current AV999 / P777 can be picked up cheaply......but your current Amp is very capable indeed, and I hope trouble free (the main Achilles Heel of Arcam Pre/Pros)

- What cables are you using?

The new AVR 750 is getting ready to launch (probably) in June / July, and will retail for £4k.

Some info:

- Best receiver to date

- 4K compatable

- Class G

- ARC compatable

- iOS control app

It has (on paper) slightly less power than the AVR600, and has no Multi Channel Analogue Ins or Balanced Connections.

I suspect it would not be worth upgrading from the AVR600, so either keep what you have or wait for the Pre/Pro and Power to be reduced, when they get upgraded.
