They are the Currys/PCWorld Tech support people. From knowing a few people from within the company, I'd say they'd have a good chance of getting things working but don't expect any real knowledge about getting better quality audio/video performance from them. You're probably looking at £50+ I guess.

aliEnRIK:I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole

Agreed.

And I also love the way the latest Comet TV ads are marketing themselves as 'technology experts' !! Hilarious. I'm amazed to see they now sell Macs so think I'll pop in one day and ask them the difference between a MacBook and MacBook Pro, or to explain the merits of the Unix base of OS X...

Hello

Do you have a network in place ? You say for music and movie streaming, are you looking for wireless ? What devices do you currently have to send and receive ? What type of house do you have ? Movies, is this from DVD ?

I've never used Techguys so have no experience but I ask the questions as it may be relevant to the price you have to pay. My house is an old cottage with thick walls and a converted loft. The wireless capability of my original modem router a LinkSys reached most locations but not the loft, subsequent replacement routers have had a better wireless range and performance but in the end I gave up with wireless. Downstairs everything is on a Gigabit network, upstairs I use a powerline solution (Devolo 200mbps), before I wired up the Gigabit loop I had powerline plugs downstairs too (very happy).

There were teething troubles streaming or playing from a server that occurred when I went to a BT Home Hub 2.0 which was resolved by changing the MTU (prior to that I also played around with jumbo frames).

aliEnRIK, what do you think are the merits of a Unix base of OSX ? In what terms ? Easy for Apple to develop and tailor ? Already an established O/S ?
