Hi does any one own the above 5.1 with the ts12 sub?? If so could you tell me what amp your using and if the sytem performs well watching films when the sound is down low??

The Tannoys work well with the TS12 or alternatively the TS500 if you are looking for a more attractive enclosure. If you have a large room there are other subs available , you are not bound to the Tannoy range.

The speakers are clear and detailed and will work well with any good quality amp. We have installed a number of systems with the new range of Pioneer amplifiers - the SC-LX81 in particular is a superb match and would be my main recommendation at this stage.

Hi my main question was towards the sound from them when played low. Do they still work effectively when the sound is low or are they like the B&Ws you need to crank them to enjoy them???

Not at all you dont need to drive them to get the best out of them. It is not just the speaker in the equation though and some amplifiers work better when they are working hard. The Tannoys are very clear so you will be able to hear accurately at low volumes.

What would be a good sub to match with these speakers if not the TS12 or other Tannoy

Well a guess my next question is what amp is good at low volumes and goes well with the tannoys??? i have about 600 odds to spend. WHat do you use??

If you are looking for a sub other than Tannoy we reccommend the Sunfire HRS8 - a tiny little subwoofer that packs a real punch.

As for an amp stretching your budget ever so slightly will get you to a Marantz SR6003 and that is our top pick at the price point right now, superb build excellent two ch playback as well as great with surround sound. If you can go up again then the Pioneer SC-LX71 is our next choice.

It may be wise to put non-signature versions at the back and save a few quid to invest in the amplifer.
