Hello, I am considering the possibility of adding a NAS to my current setting. Based on comments from the forum, I am considering synology and looking at either 112J or 212J. The price difference between both is around 40 Eur. Apart from the fact that 212J allows 2 disks instead or one, are there any other major differences in terms of pure hardware? Also, any difference in terms of funcionality, this is, can you do the same with both?

Thanks for all the input, I had already tried to do the comparison in the synology web but it only compares the hardware specs which to me are difficult to understand.
I still do not get clear whether both allow to do exactly the same things so e.i. whether there are any differences from the functional stand point. Anyway, if I end up buying synology, I will probably go for the 212J even though I do not need 2 bays or even backup feature at this point. However, I have just found another option which meets my requirements and it is much much cheaper and also has good reviews.

You will find cheaper NAS drives from WD, D-Link, Zyxel etc. Synology's DSM software is the best & most user friendly out there.

I totally agree with Synology all the way. My DS209j is still going strong and is a great iTunes and Media Server.

they are excellent. And you can stick vmware on it and run the synology software as well
Or you can use it to run XBMC and do the whole shebang in one box
