I assume its the site again that's slow and not my computer ... ?

I haven't been active a lot during the summer but lately this site is a total pain in the neck.

Do they (WHS&V) employ an outside company to run/host this? - If so, I hope they don't pay them a lot of money!

Happy, sunny Tuesday everyone x

I notice we're back to having popup video ads in the threads as well. Maybe this has been going on for a bit though, I'm not often sat at a machine without some kind of ad-blocker.

I am not sure it is confirmed, but iOS 9 due shortly (I am mainly a mac / ipad user) will allow adblock pluggins to be loaded into safari for the first time.

I don't actually have a problem with the ads themselves, but really poor ad handing and ad serving of a lot of sites slows page loads down so much that I spend more time waiting for ads (that I don't really want) to render than the page I want to see. I came across a study that suggested adblocking can increase page load speeds by a factor of three or four - though I guess it depends on the ad load and the ad mix.

My view is that the industry has shot itself in the foot here. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Correct. The update is expected as part of the iOS 9 release. Apple itself won't have an ad blocker, but third party ones will be available as plug-ins.

Ads in the middle of threads when browsing on my Samsung tablet, plus the irritating time lag for the top sections of each page to load means it's literally hit and miss when navigating around the forum.

Right, I thought about starting a new thread again just to draw both the attention of users and WH staff to the ongoing dilemma that is this forum but I can't be sure whether it is my laptop/browser or this site. - Having said that, so far it has always been the site!!

Ok, so before I condemn this horrendous forum user experience again ...

... I can now not post a reply using the requisite button ... 'page not found'.

I am nearly blowing my top but feel restraint is on order, just for now.

Anybody else experiencing the same????

Ongoing threads work, but I can't reply to new ones.

This site rarely works properly. Trying to sign in is hit and miss. You can sign in, only to find that you aren't when you try to reply to a post. On top of that, it takes an age to load anything and some of the menu choices lead you round in circles.

It's an aesthetic and functional mess.

I think it's that bad, they should pay us to use it!
