I have just moved into a house that has tiled floors throughout, does anyone have any advice regarding rear speakers that could be used with an AV amp (Denon from a few years ago) and Monitor Audio BR5 front speakers?

I previously used MA BR2s at the rear but I really need to get rid of the wires. Is there anything that enables the speakers to be used wirelessly or alternative speakers? I don't really have a clear budget in mind, I just need a solution!

Many thanks.

For your rear speakers to be wireless in relation to the system at the front of the room, you’ll need an active/powered pair of speakers, meaning that they’ll need onboard amplification. If one has the amps built in, you will need a power point and cable for that soaker, then a connecting speaker cable across to the other one. You can get rid of that cable by choosing rear speakers that have an amplifier in each of them, but as both need power, then they each need a power point and mains cables.

If one is a receiver of the wireless signal, then there’ll be a cable running from that speaker to the other one, in order to carry the signal to the other speaker. Both may be receivers, removing that interconnecting cable, but having both as receivers pushes the price up.

Of course, you could find a pair that are powered by batteries and are both receivers...

Still interested in “wireless”?

Wireless is a great end goal for everyone, but it’s just not a genuine reality just yet.

To be fair, if you don't want huge volumes and can put the speakers on stands behind your couch, against a wall, etc. and your main objective is to avoid running cables across your living room, but can live with .ca bb led along the bottom of the back wall, there are products available from a number of manufacturers. For example, Samsung, plus LG, Sony, Klipsch, Polk, Sonus, and Bose I believe make Bluetooth connected speakers that work with selected examples of their sound bars. Other manufacturers, mainly after market accessory ones, make wireless transmitter / receiver units that take feeds either off the speaker terminals or RCA line outputs of receivers.

Scour the pages of Amazon and the manufacturers and you'll find what you're looking for.
