Surround Sound Recording

I have Sky HD and when I record a DD program on the Sky+ and play it back the DD surround sound encoding is as good as the original. But if I transfer it by Scart to my DVR (Panasonic EX75) to either the HDD or burn a DVD, there is no DD anymore. Would I need a DVR/PVR with optical input, and are there any?

I think your right you do need to send DD via digital coax or optical. Scart doesnt support 5.1 surround.
As for DVR/PVRs with optical inputs.............I havent a clue!
