Surround problems with Sky+HD

Hi, I've recently purchased a Yamaha YSP 2200 and have been trying to hook it up with my Sky HD box with an Optical cable. I can get stereo sound out of it but don't seem to able to get surround - it has a small surround light which comes on. I've looked at the manual with it but I'm still none the wiser. Can anyone help at all?

From memory don't you have to activate the optical from the Sky HD settings menu to get Dolby Digital? I can not check as I cancelled my Sky. Remember only certain programmes have DD some have Dolby Stereo.

Sky does not broadcast DD on all channels. Movies on HD and football do, however the majority do not. Have you checked on all channels?

You need to make sure in the sky settings sound section that the digital audio output is set to Dolby Digital and that you are using the audio inputs on the Yahama and not hdmi for sound for sky.
