I have a 7.1 set up and i have my surround speakers a foot above my listening position to the side, should my surround rears be the same height?

for the most part tweeters should be at ear level,a lot of people prefare surround back a little higher but you should be fine as you have them, does it sound ok.

I haven't done all the drilling for the others yet, just needed an opinion before i did that, there seems to be a few differing opinions on heights, some say with 7.1 it should all be at ear height yet in 5.1 they should be above, not sure what the diff would be, personaly i think the rears are for effect therefore you dont need them firing at your ears!

Hello blackflash52, how high your speakers should be depends on which receiver you have. The receiver will specify how high the surround back (and the other speakers also) should be. I have Denon and Yamaha receivers and both state how high the surround back speakers should be. Which for the Denon is about a metre higher than the main 5.1 speakers. But read the manual - sorry, CD!

Thank you, i'll have a look, i have a denon 2113. I have placed them at the the same level, head height, and it all sounds good!
