I currently have an and old Yamaha DSP E800 as my cinema processor amp driving the centre and rears. I am now looking for an up-to-date replacement which will give me all the latest movie format soundtracks when playing blu-rays on my PS3. Can anyone please suggest a good upgrade. It seems 'processors' are few and far between these days? I don't need a 5-7 channel amp instead, as I use my Arcam A85-P85 combo for the Front speakers and like to have the option of keeping my hi fi separate from my movies on occassion. Many thanks Ian

Thanks Nick, any specific models in mind? Also won't an AV amp have more than 3 channels? so some of the AV amp won't get used?

Thanks Ian

Yes, i was looking for an AV receiver to a few months ago. I allready have the complete amp section so i actually only needed a processor, but they are so expensive in general.

You best watch out before buying an AV receiver with preamp outputs as sometimes they are for multiroom applications or for extra back channels. I think the Yamaha RX-V765 one has a full set of preamp outputs.

But i preordered this affordable Emotiva surround processor. No amp section though.

Thanks RCduck7 that's good info! I'll have a look at it and check it out

Yes it was a five star award winner. But can you suggest a replacement please?

I'm amazed there are still any of these about. They came out a long time ago so it has done very well. My first venture into surround sound was with a Marantz processor, does any one remember these?

As far as I know there are no "bolt on" processors available now, so an AV amp is the only solution. Go and listen to a few.
