im currently running a 6.1 kef 2005/3005 (centre) mix with a kef psw1000 sub, will a sub upgrade make a big difference

eg the kef htb2SE or can i mix a B&W 608 OR 610

which will integrate better and is it worth the extra money over the PSW?????

ANY ADVICE OR EXPERIENCE

ps running from a DENON 1910 amp

Have a look at the BK Electronics range. A really good sub will have no difficulty integrating with your Kef satellites and BK stuff, sold direct, is way better value than anything you'll find in the shops. I'm still regularly staggered by the performance of my XLS200

been checking a few reviews and the BK get excellent recommendaions, does anyone have experience of the 300 over the 200, is it worth the extra when matched with my kefs and amp, room is 4m x 3.5m. or best save cash and go for the 200 but worried it wont be big step up from the psw1000

Ive been using the BK XXlS400 in a similar sized room and been really pleased with it.

Ive had many subs, first was a kef cresta sub, followed by a Monitor audio bronze then a Yamaha 300.

I then moved on to Rel and had the Q150 MK 2 ,followed by a second hand strata 3.

After this i had the Rel storm 3 which was excellent until it broke and its replacement was a M&K mx100 dual driver which i found gave way to much mid bass and went no where near as low as the Rel storm 3.

The BK sub in my opinion is as good as the storm for music but doesn't go as low ,probably because its a sealed design.

I have mine connected to two systems ,separate hi-fi and home cinema .This works particularly well for me and i wont be looking for a new sub for quite some time.If you watch a lot of films i would maybe look at the Monolith to get the extra low bass ,but for me the ability to bypass the crossover for films and just use the crossover for music on the XXLS400 was the deciding factor.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the BK subs, the monolith is far to big for the room and Other half, I will be using films and gaming only, its not for music, The only question is there a big enough difference between the 200 and 300 to warrent the cash or do i need to go 300 to notice the difference over my KEF

If anyone else has any knowledge or experience its all gravy !!

I asked the same question when i was buying my XLS200 and in the end decided it was probably un-necessary. Don't fall into the trap of comparing the XLS200 with other subs at the same price level. I believe BK do the manufacturing for MJ Acoustics and that the drive unit is the same as the £750 MJ Reference 200 but the BK has an amp that's another 40% more powerful (but lacks the LED display and remote control). Have a look at the reviews for the MJ before deciding if you need more.
